Description
One of the most handsome and beautifully carved sarcophagus in the world. I photographed this about 10 years ago this piece is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum in NY. Sarcophagus of Horkhebit, Late Period, Dynasty 26, ca. 590 B.C.

It would be interesting to know how many artisans worked on this masterpiece and how long it took them, but such things are lost in history. At least the sarcophagus remains. Thanks for showing it - awesome photo!
