Description

I was just cutting my grass when I noticed a 'leaf' moving. I turned off the mower and saw that the leaf was actually this little fella. So I ran in and got my camera and toook a bunch of shots. This is from about 3 inches away using my 'super macro' feature on my Olympus. I'm still working on how to get realy good macros and I'm not completely happy with the head on this guy but I'm learning. (By the way - no Insects were harmed in the shooting of this picture. After I took his portrait I picked him up with a stick and moved him to a part of the grass I had already cut.)

RUN ...THE ALIENS ARE COMING! Nice one! I see what you mean about the head though. But with subjects as good as this, I'm sure you'll gat plenty of practice.

Actually, a good way to get your macros to show up better... don't move. I know it sounds like I'm saying something you already know, but get a tripod or one of those cheap mini-tripods with the flex legs, you'd be amazed at what they can do just to make the camera stop moving. That, and if your camera is digital, don't be afraid to use the veiwscreen rather than the eye peice, that will give you a better veiw of the focus. Not bad though, at least you got him before he got away.

This is a great shot the way it is as far as how you shot it. I would almost bet the head being a touch out is he was moving. Not only is it a way he would be protecting himself in a normal bluffing way, that mower had his head spinning hehehe. Great shot if you ask me. Maybe cut the size just a bit .
