Description

I believe this is a type of Bumble Bee. The pic was taken out in the back yard while he was pollinating a berry bush. I never realized that so many insects have what looks to be fur/hair on their bodies. I guess to me the most amazing thing about the hobby of macro photography is getting to see a critter in more detail than our human eyes (mine at least) can discern. Having been lucky enough to grow up in the rural countryside of N.C. I spent many a summer collecting and studying all manner of small critters but I was never able to see the detail that I can see now with a single photo. Makes me feel like a child again tramping around looking for a new subject to shoot. So my question is where do they go for a hair cut ?

As Flannelman says, the macro is addictive. I walk around now lifting leaves, poking under shrubs, zeroing in on anything that moves. Nice macro. Don't stop now. :-)

From personal experience we use a natural product called Bee's Wax. Available from a hive near you. To ensure it melts with our body heat we apply a thin layer to our bodies in the same direction as hair growth. A flower petal, already plucked, is then applied over the wax and smoothed firmly with arms and legs. Skin is then held taunt as flower petal is pulled in opposite direction of hair growth. It hurts but it works, for a silky, but smooth finish:0) I am sorry I couldn't help myself! Forgive me! Wonderful macro! Love the colours !

_Bee may be correct about the "waxing", or they can always get a "buzz cut"! Another great shot.
