Description

I did not take this picture, the former owners sent it to me. For those of you who have been asking about Buddy, here is a not-so-great photo of him. I will take better ones as soon as I can get some weight on him. He is very thin. You can see his ribs. His former owners were city people who bought horses when they moved to the country, and do not know how to take care of them. Very sad. They are not mean people, just stupid about horses. He is five years old and one of the sweetest horses I have ever owned, although I have been very lucky with horses. He is 16 hands and very large compared to my Egyptian Arab mare, Mindy, who is 14.2 and technically a large pony. I'm 5'4", so she is not too small for me to ride, just too small for the show ring. Buddy is named after my first horse, who was also a real sweetheart. Buddy thinks he is a dog and follows me around, putting his large head over my shoulder and also scratching my back when I clean his hooves. The problem is he is so big, and doesn't realize it, so if he steps on my foot - ouch!!! I rode him at the barn where I board my mare today for the first time and he was wonderful. Not spooky at all. If he is worried, his eyes get big and he looks at things, but is much quieter than my mare, who I thought was the quietest horse on Earth, LOL! Anyway, will keep you posted. Right now he needs lots of food and TLC. My husband, who thinks horses are the biggest waste of money, does not know about him, so I feel like I am having an affair, LOL!!!!! Hugz, Sherrie

Oh, Sherrie--you're living dangerously! I once had a "secret" horse too--but was living with my parents then. Amazing how sometimes our wants are a "waste of money" while things like gas-guzzling vehicles make perfect sense. Sure hope you can bring hubby around and not have to hide Buddy away too long--that could be a bad situation for you. Best of luck to all of you!

Aww, I was fixing to make a guess to what kind of horse he was (it was a wrong guess) He is pretty. My sister use to have horses. You will have to show a pic again after you get him fattened up. That is sweet, he following you around like dog. We had a shetland pony acted like that did that. Thanks for sharing with us.

He looks terrific in this photo Sherrie, and I'm sure you will get some weight on him soon and bring him back to his best condition! He sounds like a wonderful horse that has already taken to you very well! I hope your hubby is an understanding person, and won't get upset when he finds out you have another horse! LOL Best of luck in every way! Hugs, Rob

I be dumb on horses too. I know nothing about them. when I growing up I hated them because of they big noise. So that show how stupid I was. Now I like them but still do not know of them. I never rode one in my life. but I know God made them and they a bessing for us.

He is beautiful and will be at his best when you have put some weight on him. Love his coloring. My sister has horses and she is selling a few. She has just sold her miniatures and a pony. She still has four horses including a Arabian and a quarter horse. Food is expensive so she is downsizing the numbers. I haven't ridden in years, but it sure was fun when I did. Enjoy your new Buddy.
