Powerful image & important message. I agree - go solar, buy a hybrid car, recycle, eat organic & elect leaders that are intelligent enough to understand scientific evidence & ethical enough to do something about it...

When I opened this post yesterday I was gripped by a profound sense of sadness. So much so I wept, I sobbed! I found myself closing it down immediately and left with a pervading sense of sadness all day. Thinking that maybe I just feel things too deeply came back in the wee hours. It wouldn't let me sleep. I sat here engulfed by this image for more than an hour, unable to articulate my thoughts, emtotions. Again, I found myself sobbing. So I moved on to another of your posts. Sleep was fitful. I showered and while there I realized what it was I was feeling. This image and all it portrays (maybe because I relate to it, or that I feel strongly about such things) made me feel as if I had just miscarried. Like the child we carry in our womb, there is hope. Hope for the future, hope to leave a small part of us here on this earth. Hope that with all we have done wrong to our precious earth, that we can give back to it HOPE! Like a miscarriage, that hope is gone. One moment it is here being nurtured by our lifes blood, pulsing, beating. You feel movement, you hear and feel the beat of that life. The next, it gone, poof, up in smoke. For me, the greater sadness lies within the comments of the two postings. Save for one or two, others just don't get it. The greatest gift we have is the ground we walk on, the air we breathe. These two postings aren't just art. These two postings go beyond the boundries of art. It is life. The artist grabbing his fellow man by the shoulders, shaking them in an attempt to wake them up and see that the true meaning of "art like life, life like art is eternally revealing" will never be if we don't appreciate and care for and nurture what we have. You know, what many don't realize is this. The air we breathe is much like sex. You don't appreciate it until your not getting any. ~Michelle~
