Hi! These guys are my favorite birds. They are so amazing to me. I have been lucky and gotten some really good photos of these hard to see birds. It's wise to plant flowers that attract them. They like anything that has a trumphet shape flower and they are really attracted to red. This particular feeder is my favorite although it draws wasp and bees, as you can see the 2 wasps in the photo. Sometime the little birds try to run them away but they are really stubborn....I have another feeder that the wasp don't like so much so it gives the little birds a rest. I live in the city and I don't usually see these birds until around the 4th of July or when the crepe mertles bloom...I usually have 3 to 4 that hang around all day. My mom lives in the country oh my she has dozens swarming....they love sugar water....that is what is in the feeder....1 part sugar to 4 parts water and they are happy....so are the wasp and bees...lol.....i think it ferments and they actually get intoxicated from it. They are the only birds that can fly sidesway, backwards and forwards.....they do this thing that is amazing to watch....they fly like a pendulem....sideways.
