I'm not sure how what made it not as realistic as some others I've seen (it might be lighting)...just goes to show...I'm stillll a newbie.

Hi there! That's a nice looking candle scene, but there are a couple of things you could do to make it more realistic. First candlelight from an unshielded flame will be omnidirectional...it will fan out in all directions. In back of, as well as in front of the candle. There should be a ball of light all around the candle. The next one will be a little harder to fix. That is the subsurface light scattering that occurs in the soft wax at the top of the candle. In other words the top of the candle should be softly lit from within. You will have to play with the transparency settings of the candle and the light to achieve that. You may even have to spend some time in the dreaded DTE.Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
