Description

Towering eight hundred feet above the North Platte River in western Nebraska, Scotts Bluff has been a natural landmark for many peoples, and it served as the path marker for those on the Oregon, California, Mormon, and Pony Express Trails. Scotts Bluff is located at the west end of a 35 mile stretch of bluffs and hills called the Wildcat Hills. From its summit, one can see Chimney Rock on the horizon--23 miles to the east. The visitor center is in the foreground of the picture. We rode to the summit and took some pretty good photos--soon to follow.
