took this 2-2004 at Red Rock out side of Vegas
hope your weekend will be to your liking and thanks for your comments
at one time there was a quarry here before the government made it a park. many of the stones used in old Vegas came from here.they hauled on wagons pulled by horse or mules

Poor horses and mules! I can understand why they used stones from there though, they sure are square arent they. Beautiful colors in this one Richard. Have a great weekend. #:o)

Damn those choices. When we were in Vegas a few weeks ago, we also wanted to explore the region around Vegas. We had to make a choice and decided to visit Valley of Fire State Park (photos to come in near future). But looking at above scenery... I'm afraid I have to return in future. Unfortunately I have to travel more than 6000 miles again... Thanks for sharing!

Impressive and savage place.

Beautiful landscape. If the boulders in the foreground are natural I can see why stones from this place were used as building materials - they're almost ready for use as is! Very nice!

I feel only pitty for this poor horses and mules who had to carry something so heavy in this wilderness!!! Marvelous captured, thanks for sharing, Richard!!! Hugs Ute

It's great when they make the old quarries into parks, so much nicer than a hole. This is a great shot and looks like a good place to explore.
