Description
Another image I did a few years ago and never bothered to upload. In my own fantasy works, I decided that temperate drakes would develop feathers for insulation. This little drake was one of the products of that idea. Showing an increasing number of derived traits, this little drake is using it's wings and tail to help channel a dragonfly. The feathers, initially developed to warm the creature during winters, became specialized for navigation, and prey capture. Taking note from my now dead water dragon (Physignathus cocincinus), I gave the creature a recoiled head posture with the small tongue poised ready to receive the prey. I used to love watching my dragon line up his food with his stubby little tongue before striking and biting. No stickiness, or elongation, just a fleshy body probably used to taste and restrain the insects before the teeth could crunch it.

It looks like that creature that scientests and archeaologysts bring up when they talk about birds evolving from dinosaurs. Nice drawing.
