Description
An ode to my father,
A figure of wisdom and strength,
Whose sage advice and guiding hand,
Has steadied my path at length.
A firm yet fair authority,
When a situation arises,
Yet soft-at-heart and quick to joke,
With laughter and surprises.
Whose tireless crusade as a handyman,
Inspires me with awe,
Mending doorknobs, bikes and gaping holes,
With driver, wrench and saw.
Who reigns as champ on the bowling greens,
Amidst much cheering and applause,
And returns home bearing accolades,
To resume his humble chores.
A proud and thoughtful eager grandad,
Reading stories and poking fun,
Constructing playful toys and cubbyhouses,
With love and dedication.
A master chef of commendable skill,
Producing meals with inventive craze,
From curries to omelettes to leftover stew,
Improvising in most alarming ways!
A father whom I truly admire,
Who has earnt my utmost respect,
To him I pledge my gratitude,
And hope these words have that effect.

To complement my previous Mother's Day Poem I have again let pour out my true feelings onto the page, this time in tribute to my old man.
