Description
This is a poem for children.
Spiro the snail
Spiro the snail wasn't feeling well,
A dog kicked him hard, breaking his shell.
He couldn't breathe; he was in much pain,
His efforts to mend it were all in vain.
He sat there, in a quiet side road,
Along came Froggy, the giant toad.
"What do we have here?" his voice was heard,
"Resting on the road is not preferred!"
Spiro looked up at his old friend the toad,
And said, "Good friend, I need to be towed.
My shell is broken and I'm stuck here,
Won't you please help me, Froggy my dear?"
Toad shed a tear, which dropped to the ground,
It was a special tear, not at all round.
His long tongue licked it, smoothing it out,
A good band aid it'll make, no doubt!
Together they worked, mending the hole,
And after a rest went for a stroll.
"Thank you so much for giving a hand"
You're the best friend I have in the land!"
Froggy the toad gave Spiro a smile,
And said nothing for a long while.
He then patted the snail on his head,
Saying, "I don't want friends to be dead!

Thanks Morin. Your comment didn't make much sense but between the lines I could tell you liked my image. I took a look at your gallery and I must say some of the photos are breathtaking. Hanna

Something I would happily read to my kids [I agree they're a lot more resilient than we often admit] ... a lovely roller-coaster ride. It made me chuckle. Much. Mike
