Description

Believe it or not, this started with a completely random scribble in OpenCanvas 1.1. Then forms started appearing, and erasing and additional lines lead to the finished drawing. Feel free to drop by www.warpaint.se, where you can get OC1.1 and the Warpaint network server client. Then you can join in on the fun in real time.

Very interesting! Excellent attitude! I would have this done with the sketch capability of Manga Studio (see my study of Manga Studio at http://formations.elcet.net, press the button Tests and tuts and look specially at the queen Ellyandh's sketch), but that is great Pauljs! I give this pict the maximum note!

Portal Graphics (www.portalgraphics.net) has the latest OpenCanvas (v. 4) for sale, with many comparable features to Manga Studio. But, believe it or not, I'm not interested in all that stuff. I like the old unsupported 1.1 version more for what it lacks. Price and complexity. Being an old and "archival" beta, it can be found for free. It's functions are simple, thus a short load time and light hardware hit - that makes it fast. This is good, because that makes it responsive to the tablet and allows for quite a degree of expressiveness. Then it has the cool event recording and networking features other art programs don't have. You can learn a bit about different drawing techniques simply by downloading and watching .wpe files playback. I haven't seen this anywhere else. The networking features are quite nice too, since it's possible to collaborate in realtime online. This feature alone makes having the old version worthwhile, since it was removed from the later versions. If anyone's interested, I could make the .wpe for this drawing available so you can see just how goofy the virtual canvas started out. There's also some recording of another artist by the name "mode" who occasionally joins the Warpaint server I host.

I still have that installed I think. Pester me next time you catch me, and I'll see if I can get it working.
