Description

The seventh planet from the F9V star DV-249 was a bleak cold marginally-habitable world with a thin atmosphere, but the Sadwillow Exploration Service frigate "Artemis" detected a radio signal similar to that emitted by an ancient Precursor artifact on Coriolis-B. A scout bug was dispatched to the planet's surface to investigate. The crew was unprepared for what they found... ----------------------------------------------------- Bug model was a freebie from daz3d.com, with some modifications from moi. Trivial postwork in photoshop to clean up some problems I had with the bug.

Wow really nice design work brother, I really like your stuff allot, we should play and do some stuff together in an art project/video game engine team thingy /smiles. To answer some of your questains:
I'm getting that grainy water effect too. I wonder if reducing the detail in the water shader might help?
Not a bad idea, and as I said that was work in progress, but it also may be do in part to the free qware that the software is as well. But I will try your sugestion on my final enrty. I take it you will enter in the orbiter render contest as well? if not you should, your work is awesome.
At least it should speed up these, "Oh my God," slow renders.
Ya I hear you and it is because in part due to the fact that it renders stuff that is not seen and does all the lake instead of just where it should and a few other reasons, but they are working on it and the big render bug is cutting the hi end renders off mid screen, and I figure when they get that one fixed, most of the other bugs will fall in line /smiles. Have you noticed a tendency for your planet to turn purple when you use water at high resolution? I've had beautiful shots set up in 640x480, that turn purple when I render the same view in 800x600. Not really, I have not seen any purple like I saw sometimes Tg v.009 did once in a while because of mapping texture issues. Maybe take a look at your back lighting and make sure the 2 colors you use do not make up purple? or how they inter-relate to other colors in the scene. that may be in part, part of the problem? remember there is back light/haze for the sky and the same with the landcape, you need to take all that into concideration. I get strange colors sometimes, but not purple and usually I can adjust them with the back lighting and changing the color here and there. Hope that helps some and Wow you really do wonderful work and your craftsmanship is awesome brother. Lets get together and have some fun. Your Bryce work is awesome as well as your tgd2 wrk and what programs do you model in may I ask? I useing Max and XSI myself right now, but looks like you useing LW? DeathTwister

Neat, but what did they find there? Was it a monster? ... a cute alien? ... a weapon? ... a shipwreck? I'm curious and I need to know.
