Description

This is another in my African/Eastern mythology series. Lisa is the Nigerian Sungoddess - twin sister of Mawu, the goddess of the moon. Both are the children of the eternal snake who holds his tail in his mouth. I find these myths so fascinating because unlike Greek and Roman mythology, very little has been done artistically on these characters, which leaves a lot of leeway for artistic liberties. As goddess of the sun, in African lore, Lisa is seen as both the goddess of creation and destruction. Without her nothing can grow but she is also the goddess of fire and destruction.
