Description
Well I went out today and took some photos. I saw this spider on the path to my pond and had to get a shot. So took a few and played with setting to get it to look ok with the little bit of light in the woods, lol. Hope you enjoy.

Great shot. This looks like what we used to call a banana spider when we were kids. They would usually build there webs across trails and scare the crap out of you when you encountered them. These things were about as big as the palm of your hand or bigger.

Beautiful spider portrait. I always think about the times riding my mountain bike in the trails and run into a spider and web......lol. Excellent shot. Aloha

Great shot, there are some interesting theories why they make the extra large web threads often zig zagged in shape, some think it is to deter birds from flying into them to ruin all the hard work

Magnificent spiders, but I hate running into their webs. Have a few shots of my own of these. You did well with this big momma! :)

Perfect detail and lighting and very interesting to see how the Nephilia spiders differ in colour in your region.
