Description

Psssst.... come closer, got a secret to tell ya. You ready? The husband is a softy... ;) the man stopped on the highway to rescue this little guy (or gal) after he saw him spun around by a vehicle. I'm sure Lucky was loopy and more than a bit scared cause he hid in his shell for nearly 24 hours! He did have a tiny amount of blood seeping from his home, but we were fairly certain he was okay and would be okay since his shell wasn't cracked or broken. We have an old bathtub in the backyard that's been used for nearly everything. Now we can add hospital ward for terrapins to the list of uses. Little Lucky spent the night and the better part of the next day recuperating in there. Lucky finally emerged late yesterday, ate a bit of canned dog food, ignored the lettuce and potato peelings and convinced us by trying to climb the walls of the tub that he was right as rain and ready to continue on his wild journey. We carried him to the country and far, far into a field and released him to... do whatever it is that terrapins do! :) Thanks for taking a peek and any comments you care to leave... and... for putting up with me! :)

Awwww!!!!! I like your hubby!!! There should be more people like him around. What a beautiful story to go with this beautiful photo. Excellent compo with him slightly offcentered like that. And the colors reminds me of autumn...my favorite time of year. Have a wonderful day Donna. #:o)

This is one of the most colourful tortoises which I am aware of. Very well captures, great clarity.

Well, it's better than my turtle pic. Gorgeous shot, very well-composed and nice depth-of-field effects.
