Description

Nikon 7900 image. Todays posting is of a spider I have been watching for some time. It lives on a goat weed plant and never seems to leave it. It is a Green Lynx spider and I have watched it grow from a tiny little thing into a very large, very fat adult, lol. To be honest, the 3 meals were not eaten on the same day. In fact, the 3 photos were taken over the course of a week. It takes at least 2 hours or more for the spider to finish each one. "Lunch" was especially interesting to me because I was watching when this wasp was grabbed. There was a heck of a fight for about 3 seconds, lol. It went like this: Second 1: The wasp landed on the plant near the spider. The spider jumped on the wasp's back. The wasp flipped over immediately and attempted to sting the spider. Second 2: The spider used 2 legs to hold onto the plant, 2 legs to hold down the stinging part of the wasp, 2 legs to hold down the middle of the wasp, and 2 legs to hold down the wasp's upper body. It was like the wasp was pinned ( spread eagled and on his back) to the mat. Second 3: Making sure he kept his belly raised so the stinger could not reach him, the spider then quickly injected it's toxin and the fight was over. It took several hours for the spider to suck the juices out and discard the empty husk. I have decided to try some new approachs to my postings. I am going to see if these changes will attract a little more attention to my work. There will be a lot more of these multiple image submittions and I am changing the time when I post them. Maybe more people will find something interesting if they get more to look at each time and maybe by posting around 8 or 9 A.M. (instead of 1 A.M.), my photos will not be buried at the bottom of each days total postings where few take the time to look. Of course, the bigger file size of these "collection" shots may discourage some from opening them but I need to try something different, lol. I get a bit discouraged from time to time when I know some of the images I post are good but so few people view them. I am also allowing ratings to see what results that may have as well. I do appreciate those who do comment and I hope this one is interesting. I do recommend that this and all my postings be seen in the large size for best detail. Lee

Some awesome detail here. It looks like he has found himself a good camping out spot, he sure is eating well. Nice work and presentation, although it's a little big (as you already noted). Hope the new strategy works out for you!

i really liked seeing this big it shows off how well you have done with this magnificent presentation and captures!! love your framing in the frame there.. what did you do Lee sit there all day ? you have alot of patience that i sure do admire !!..and you really know how to work that nikon 7900 on macro mode.. i think really that that camer is best for macro work .. it does the best on the setting after a year and a half of using it .. ( you know that BIG pano pic i took behind my home the other day lol dont laugh i had it on macro by accident you can even take bIG shots on that setting and get good results its the magical thing about it there have been write ups about it i found on line how it preforms in macro mode infact.. ok i am writing a book here!! It is a very good collection very well presented. I like the accommpanying text which makes the subject come alive too. The thumbnail was a bit inconspicuous though.

I always try to look at your work, even though I don't always comment...I'm sure a lot of us feel the same way you do about views. I know I can always count on a certain number of views from my regular guests (they know who they are and "thank you")....let's face it, the only way to assure tons of views is to upload a nude (or pretend to). This is a very well done collage of your spider friend.

I like your photographic work, Lee. It's crisp and artistic, but I just don't like bugs, spiders, etc.
