Description

At one time, the population in Waipio Valley was about 4,000. But with their share of problems of hard times and natural disasters, people moved away. Periodical flooding and tidal waves have forced people to higher grounds. Today a few of these former residents make a living driving tourists into the valley. Others travel there to raise taro to supplement their incomes or to vacation in their old family homes, but prefer not to live there on a permanent basis. If you look a little on the left, you can see a previous post "Hi'ilawe Waterfalls and on the right "Deep in the Valley". Well, time to return back to reality and leave this Garden of Eden. Aloha and thank you for viewing (Back to the lava fields and a moonlite walk)
