Description

Just a snippet of an old animation. I was inspired by watching Star Wars, and wondered if I could create some laser cannon effects... 1) Laser beams, 2) Flash of light upon firing and 3) The cannons recoil. I was happy with the results, the complete animation has sound too. Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend! ; )

A man after my own heart! The release of the ORGINAL Star Wars on DVD is a great thing...but stay tuned for next year when the 30th Anniversary Mega Boxed set comes out...that is where I'll be spending my $$$. :)

So realistic, I have to duck when it comes around. I'm making my own sounds for it! Dig the muzzle flash.

Cool animation. Ah, the "science" of sci fi. Funny, it only just struck me, how and why would a laser create a recoil? Oh well, it's only a movie! I've seen tv specials about the science of Star Wars, but I don't recall them addressing that question. I really must take time some day to learn a few things about animation. Looks like fun.

Nice job! No mistaking this baby. I think Sega or Konami or someone produced a Death Star/X-wing simulation video game back in the mid-80s... I musta spent a fortune on game tokens trying to take these things out. @helix3d: the same folks (Dykstra, etc.) who figured starships should loudly swoop and bank through space, rather than following a vector course. This animation has made my trigger finger itchy, now where is that joystick! :)

I imagine the with-sound version to be most impressive. Sounds are essential with weaponry really. But then as this is set in space you wouldn't hear them anyway! "2001" rules! So this must be the most realistic version... Clearly this is another masterful animation I could learn a lot from :-)
