Very nice modeling. I like the point of view as well. I think what would make this piece really nice is a little more environment, like a bright light source. Is it at the kitchen table or a corner cafe? A kitchen window or a many windows like a cafe would have. Use of HDRI on the spoon plate and glass would really make this render, and radiosity. Overall, very nice. Thanks for the post.

Photorealism? This is great .. would love to do this sort of work. New to this sort of thing, cannot offer any advice... but appreciate the advice from ohannon.

did you use HDRI enviroment? you lost lots of reflections over the objects .. maybe i would have added another kind of enviroment mapping to get more photorealism

Sorry daveef, I don't agree. More reflection is not needed, but I would add a grunge map or two to the paper and the cup/saucers. Good lighting (HDRI is great, isn't it!). Maybe a rougher edge to the paper as well..
