It's a shame about the large green box, but that's farmers for you, they don't think about us photographers. Still stunning to walk around a bend and see this view.

Actually Fred, he dissolved the monasteries for two reasons: for their wealth, and as retaliation over the Pope's refusal to grant him a divorce from Catherine. Most were sold to his friends, who either used the original buildings as a source of stone, or simply ignored the orginal edifices and built lavish houses elsewhere on the site. Fountains Abbey is a similar grand structure which has mostly survived. Good shot, btw!
