Description

This is a Homage to the great artist Gradient, for many reasons. I have gotten inspiration on this piece for both the POV and sky, but I also used a technique that he gave in the hints thread for rendering the sky later, which really was helpful here. It is a work in progress, because I'd really like to make this better, and fine tune things, so all advice is really welcome. Thanks for Mayday for her terrain and Overlay. t4v Sacha P.S. I know there's tiling on the sand, but I'm not really sure how to get rid of it. . .

I think it looks fantastic as is. You might try some subtle tweaking with Photoshop or a similar program, and play with levels and saturation to see if you can beat this, but it's already wonderful.

Tiling is always a problem in TG...sometimes I add the same texture to a child layer with slightly lower or higher tile settings...and sometimes I just brush out the repititions in postwork...this looks great and the repeats are not bad and could be taken out with minimal work...The rays are super but the clouds need something...I don't know but, I can't wait to see the tweaked version :)

Very lovely perspective! Fantastic atmosphere 'n' terrain. Love the sands there in the middle of the rocky peaks! Very nice work! (:

Agree with Markal, but that's just small things. Reducing the density contrast might help the clouds, but then you'll probably lose the rays... hm, sorry that's no help... The angle is extreme but makes an interesting composition. Very good work!

The sky, landforms and POV are dynamic; the atmospheric turbulence and tiled ground surface texture lend interest and a sense of motion. Incredible realistic colors and light..and the terrain is awesome. Great homage to one of my favorite artists.

Awesome terrain, the pov give it immense proportions. Wonderful surfacing. I love how it softens from the grassy surface to the sand. Beautiful sky colors, the rays are superb.

WOW!! What an amazing render! Fantastic work! Personally I think the clouds could have done with just a little softening on their edges in postwork.. just a little. You said rendering the sky later was posted by Gradient in a thread....is that available somewhere? Would appreciate reading it. Can't wait to see what you do next with this...I love it already! :o)
