Description
Taken on my new Canon 17-85 IS USM :). Post in photoshop.
Not normally my subject of choice, but they were really close to me so i had a go. The feathers at the tip of the wing remind me of those of an eagle and thus the title, as even the bird with the worst negative reputation (evil, bad etc) can have splendor.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.
Enjoy!

Splendor is right. This is a splendid photo as well. The detail in the feather formation is great. I never understood why this bird would not have a good reputation everywhere it went. It is so vital to our ecosystem and a very finely built and operating creature too.

Congrats on the new lens. Beautiful capture of this bird. Is it a crow or a raven? Hard to tell...but im guessing raven...and im probably wrong too, lol. #:o)

That's a vulture, right? Yeah, they're gorgeous. I saw one eating a dead raccoon by the side of a road once, it's amazing how they can be so graceful while trying to wrestle a carcass free of a barb wire fence. If I'm wrong and it is a crow or raven ... well, I've never seen a raven (as far as I know) but crows are not only lovely, they're smart too. I've never seen a crow that's been hit by a car, they're always fast enough to get out of the way. If it's none of the above, for god's sake TELL US WHAT IT IS!!!

lol - i thought it would be obvious, guess i was wrong. Maybe i should have said that firstly it was shot on a walk alongside the old course in st andrews (right next to the 17th tee if anyone has been there), and so can't be a vulture. And secondly that it is most probably a crow - i am not entirely certain of the difference between a crow and a raven, but i think a raven is basically a massive version of a crow. This fellah was maybe a foot tall with a black beak so 90% sure its a crow ;) Thanks for your comments :)
