Description

This is a picture of the Cedar River in the Nebraska Sandhills. The Cedar River is a narrow winding river that snakes its way through the sandhills. The great thing about Sandhill rivers is that they are shallow with a sand bottom and fun to swim in in the summer. The shallow water warms up nicely in July and August. You can generally see all sorts of wildlife tracks in the sand, birds and vegitation of all sorts. These sandhill rivers are clean and safe for swimming as there is no industry or population centers to pollute the water. Generally these rivers have sand bars which serve as an enormous sandbox where kids can spend a day building sand castles and minitue dams to hold back water. You generally have the river all by yourself as this region is very sparsly populated. Its a great way to spend the afternoon with the kids!

From the thumbnail I was betting this was in the great plains. Great shot! Good presentation.
