Description

One day I was wandering aimlessly around, as I do from time to time, when I noticed it had begun to rain. I stood there, in the rain, for several minutes until I had an idea. I realized that if I could move fast enough I could take a picture of the raindrops that had collected on me before they started to fall. It took hundreds of attempts, but I finally managed. This is the result. Created with Megapov, Wings3D & Poser. The only postwork was slight contrast and sharpness adjustments. The falling rain is made up of Megapov's motion blur function applied to 7000 rounded cones. The person shape was created by moving 13,500 blobs (metaballs for non-pov'ers) to the surface of an invisible Poser model. There are around 13,000 more blob components on the rocks and umbrella and in the splashes. The umbrella was modelled in Wings3D. The background is a mixture of heightfields, isosurfaces and Daz tree models. All comments, criticism and advice are greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking!

This is amazing work! The water and rain are superb, and as for the figure, that's soooo well done!! Wonderful composition overall - I can't fault it.

This is a really great image, you should enter it for the IRTC this round, it kind of fits the topic.. Everything looks great but I think for the amount of rain falling there would be a few more of the splashes on the ground. Good idea and the effect of the invisible man is really cool..
