Nice scene. The desert background looks very surprising & disorienting behind the urban scene (I assume it's a photo mapped onto a 2D plane). It does look like a painted backgound (as if someone had placed a giant mural there), but that's not meant as a criticism, because I like the effect. It would be nice to see it rendered larger, though, as the details on the figure are pretty indistinguishable at this size...

well the size for details in the picture work other wise i would have to blend in the 2d picture background with photo shop or some such. not at that skill level yet. so the lack of details is meant to hide my lack of skills. i was looking through different urban pictures to make street look longer. ran across this it was so out of place it worked. also my antiquated cpu and only 1 gig of ram don,t allow for too many things at one time... i,m only a newby taking two steps beyond my currant skill set.

this so surreal and outstanding composition. like a city on the verge of being swallowed by the desert

putting a few things sticking out of the sand would have been nice hind sight lol thx for your comment!!

Yes, a very surreal composition! I like the juxtaposition of the stark sand dune and the urban setting! Talk about the "Edge of town". Looks like the desert will reclaim the city! The lighting matches, and thats what makes it work!
wawadave
yes lighting was hard to do. not used any before this picture. THX!!!

Nice subdued colours and fine composition of light and shadow.

Very cool scene. I'ld suggest adding sand to the ground (that the figures use) so that it'll blend into the background better. But still an over all great job.
