Description

The interplanetary passenger Liner ARES rendezvous with Mars' inner moon, Phobos. Passengers will transfer to Mars shuttle in the foreground for the last leg of the trip to the Martian surface. The image was modeled and rendered in Lightwave 3D. Special thanks to SpaceGraphics.com for the great Mars color and texture maps. planetscapes.com provided te Phobos model. The Phobos base and Mars clouds were added in Photoshop. Thanks for taking a look!

The image gives you a great sense of hanging over/below the planet, with the stark terrain features giving the appropriate sense of the thin atmosphere. The "X" composition is an interesting choice and keeps the eye in the ceneter of the image. The lunar outpost is a nice touch, adding a little more interest and life to the image.

Love this one, a classic space art composition reminiscent of R.A.Smith's work from the fifties.

Excellent render. You can almost sense the movement of each object as they pass beneath.
