An excellent capture of both destruction and rebirth. How fortunate you are to witness the works of the universe's two greatest artists, God and Mother Nature, in person.

I take my time hiking so I can see, feel and hear evyerthing. I am guessing this is quite peaceful there yet so dangerous. Are there sound of boiling heat? Its beauty is inviting it fools you to draw you near. Excellent images that you have capture of this great mother earth monster.

LottaLagg1...When the lava ooze moves across the old surface rocks, its has a crackling sounds. Part of the sound is due to the sudden heat over the old cold lava surface...sounds caused when the lava pushes little pieces of loose glass like rocks. Some popping sounds are cause when lava rolls over trapped air or moisture. There are other popping sounds such when a thin piece of lava rock skin breaks away from its shell. Other than that, lava is quite silent even in the skylights (we could not hear any sounds at all). Moisture in the air especially when it rains causes sounds as it touches the hot lava. These are our observation at close up. Lava pouring into the sea is another thing too..... Unless you get close to an eruption, the lava itself seems quiet. Now during my younger days of getting close to an eruption, yes....there was much noise and sounds coming out of the ground. Thanks for asking... Aloha
