Description


This was taken at the Bonne Terre lead mine in Missouri. The mine ran out in the 1960's(?) and today it's a tourist attraction. A good part of the mine is flooded, and is open to divers; the rest is a walkthrough cave. The water is unnaturally clear, seeing it in person it doesn't look real, more like something out of a video game. This catfish is the only fish (and practically the only living thing) in the water, and they don't know how it got there.

Very nice photo and a great history on it. Poor catfish... someone ought to relocate it or put another in for company... :-)

WoW it's eerie seeing that ladder going down into the water reminds me of the movie The Ring. And the catfish just adds to the mystery. Cool shot...
