Description

The Cord was in our left periphery at the shopping center. If there was compassion the missing earlier L-29 should be available at a Concours if only I could persuade someone to take me there. Meanwhile the American activity in car design I had accessed in annuals to Hot Rod now has life in Inteernet sites. Reverse angle of attack wings in ground effect. Opel RAK http://www.astronautix.com/lvs/opel.htm some McKichan there too as well as SATURN. so RAK 2 alone http://www.flickr.com/photos/dhania/231678824/ and http://www.daviddarling.info/encyclopedia/O/Opel-RAK.html now for fineness and narrowness to prevent flipping at high speed http://www.bonneville20mph.org/club_history.htm and specifically Kenz-Leslie's 777 http://www.coloradoracingmemories.com/crm_kenz_leslie/crmkenz.htm finally the references from John Mecom, Jim Hall and Rattlesnake Raceway in Midlands, Texas with ground effect on the Chapparal series of cars. http://sports.racer.net/chassis/chapparral/page1.htm then we can do front drive the only car I ever drove with this system is here http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/bro2359f.htm the memory Cord 810 is here http://www.sportscarmarket.com/profiles/1998/December/American/index.html the sedan with a 132 wheelbase instead of the standard 125 inch is here http://www.panacealimo.com/cord.html In the best American cars according to Forbes http://www.forbes.com/2000/12/13/americancarslist.html Then there is the matter of an aluminum engine transversely mounted in the front which came in 1904 on the Franklin. I saw some later inlines on Palos Verdes Penininsula at acollectors house. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_(automobile)

The plan is to go furhter down the path of originality while recognizing the disparate attempts of the true barbarians. This is a Roman, albeit a Senator or at least a tribune. As I mentioned earlier, I could use this as the jumping off point for a model or I could use the memory of it's successor. If the model is truly to be sold it really needs to be more a jumping off from my own study. How much of this I can gather together in a single shape is the next question. Think of it this way, in aircraft design area rule was important in efficient supersonic flight. So where is it in the F-4 "Phantom II?" It seemed when Gary Gabellich and Craig Bredlove were contesting rocket car designs that at 600mph and above that jet cars were obsolete. That was until Richard Noble figured out how to eject the shock waves upward and used two British Phantom II engines to go supersonic on land above 750 mph. Theory is mostly a hostage held by barbarians. Once they have their way with it they behead it.

Here is something recent. Notice the car is narrow like the Kenz-Leslie that had flaheads in the 50's. (It also has a fin) There are videos of a diesel car at over 350mph for two records here as well as the long build. http://www.jcbdieselmax.com/html/news_detail.php?id=71&month=0&year=2006&form=&searchterm=&PHPSESSID=6218853cdbc2709b818c50e53e723a55

I have been to the Auburn Cord Museum in Auburn, Indiana a few times in years past. A MUST see. They also have a public 'auction'. Saw John Lennon's psychedelic Rolls sell for about $250,000 on year. Superb work!! Thanks for posting it!
