Description

While Mary and Caroline fought it out onboard The Black Heart, the exchange of cannon fire between the ships had raged on - but Mary's ship La Sirene had been retreating to a safer distance. Just as Caroline's crew started to sense victory, the fuse set by Red and Kia reached the first barrel, and the whole gunpowder store exploded!! The Black Heart was virtually ripped in two by the blast - surely no-one had survived that! But did Mary and her two faithful crew members get off in time...? ** To Be Continued ** Just managed to sneak this one in before my holiday - and this is where I wanted to leave it, on a real cliffhanger! See y'all again in 10 days or so! Thanks as ever for watching - Phil

got my e-bot...about 24 hours later sigh Looks great. Seems like it would have exploded out from the sides more perhaps as well, but I've no idea how hard that would be to do or even if it's possible. Not complaining, just saying. :) Have a great vacation...we'll wait for the next episode. :)

Very well done! Regarding the jwiest comment above, you have the explosion exactly right: The hull and sidewalls were (of necessity) the strongest parts of a wood hulled sailing vessel. The decking and topsides were relatively weak by comparison. You can confirm this for yourself by visiting HMS Victory or the USS Constitution. Another great installment for this series...
