Description
Nesting in a wooded grove by the river Nairn this is one of four cairns used in ancient times for rituals. It took a lot of work to build and was originally covered by cap stones. You can see how large it is by looking for the figures including a girl running.
It is a very atmospheric place ,if you are in the area of Inverness call in, follow the signs to Culloden battlefield then enter the valley just to the South.

These places are deep in our common celtic roots. Since I'm child (and that my father told me that my country actualy "Belgium" but former part of the Celtic confederation as "Belgic") I have ever feel these roots in me, as if we had loose something important. Thanks for this post which remind so much.

Looks like a great place to visit. An awful lot of history here in this one spot. I have been to similiar sites in Ireland. This looks well worth the visit. Cool shot!

I've been to Culloden a million times and never knew this existed. Are we talking about the Picts here? Fascinating.
