Description
A friend of my mom's has had this plant for years and she never knew what it was so since it was blooming, I decided to take a couple photos of it. As soon as I was it, I knew what it was and told her.

The Carrion Flower, Star Fish Flower, or Giant Zulu
Stapelias are strange succulent plants native to the deserts of South Africa. The extremely large, starfish-shaped flowers of Stapelia gigantea are pale yellow with reddish stripes.
The flowers give off a pestilent smell that attracts flies. As they buzz from flower to flower, flies collect pollen and transport it to the next plant, thereby ensuring the successful pollination of this species. The flower

Oh yeah... LOL! The rancid meat plant... we have a native allium here that covers the wooded part of the local park with delicate star shaped flowers in spring - and the whole place smells of onions! :D
