Description

A work in progress. Not after realism but a complexity derived from lots of "stuff". The background I'm pretty much OK with but I'm not happy with the cone trees in the foreground. Suggestions anyone? (- keep in mind I'm after a toonish environment.)Is it too dark or contrasty?

Looks good to me. I love what you've done with it.

Hello, About the tree shape, I would "break" the cone in two or tree section and rotate then a little. I would add one more section at the base and scale it down. This would add some randomness. This seems to be good in a "cartoon" context that is supposed to be "hand drawn". Maybe place the trees in a more clustered way, small groups. Not "individually random". You choose the colors right. In the background, you forget the skiing hippopotamus, definitely.

Maybe for the trees in the foreground model something with exagerated needles and pinecones. Sort of a Charlie Brown kind of tree. I think the cones work fine in the mid/background. Looks nice, looking forward to seeing some more.

Will take the comments on board - see if I can come up with a solution which isn't too computationally heavy - that is, not too many polys!BTW just looking at it again now I think maybe the lightest coloured cone tress are a little too light.

Hello Mr Burnart. prehaps the way to go would be to slightly soften the cone shape with a chamfer at the base and top of the foliage cone! I like this work, Have you experimented with removing all the bump "textures" from the scene?

Actually I started without the bump but decided to go "with" - hides some dodgy polygons amongst other things! I made some new trees they look much better and more toonish. Will post an update soon.

I like the trees and colors how they are... would be interesting to have a look on the updated version!
