Hello !
My name is Helle. I live in Denmark on the Island, Zealand. I have a husband and two sons and three grandchildren, so I am a happy person.
I like many kinds of art and I try to limit myself, but I dont succeed very well. I love my PSP9 and I think I use it every day. I like to draw, paint and experiment on canvas or paper and I wish I had time do it every day. My biggest wish is, that there would be 48 hours instead of the poor 24 a day. I just dont think it will ever happen ;)
A fantastic new world opened for me, when I was Introduced to Renderosity for the first time. I am very grateful to be a part if this site.

A wonderful attempt, I sure it is hard to work through the tears! HUGS! My Mom is in final stage Demetia, and although she fought so hard to keep her independence, even to the point of becoming bitter toward everyone, she now remembers nothing, and is back enjoying the moment!

You did great with this. I remember that look so well in my own mother's face.

I think this really worked. You have the modeling in the eyes very well. I would suggest that you use acrylic for the eye highlight, hea, we all do. I was raised by my Great-grandparents ... and I do remember that look in "Gran-ma's" eyes too. You did a wonderful job and yes the background does work.

OHH ! yes Dennis. What you write I recognize so well. Only my mom is on the angry stage, but it is changing slowly to the "enjoying the moment" stage. Although I am fortuned, because my mom is very old...93 years...so we, my 2 brothers and I, had a wonderful loving and always caring Mom for so many years. Im very grateful for that. :))) Boni! Thanks, then Il use Acrylic for her eyes.:) Emailandthings ! I made this picture with Watercolor pencils on paper. A4. And then I scanned it in. All the Noicy pictures I have oploaded are made that way. Only, on some of them I used tush too. Thanks to all of you for your kind and warm comments. You made my day. :)))

I could comment on every one of these early works, but I skipped to this because of recent events...I remember the moving photograph you posted of your mother, later in your gallery. Here I truly feel you captured both her beauty and the gnawing frustration of lost memory: I saw it in my step mother, I've seen it in others too. There's beauty and even childlike-qualities in her eyes here; but also the pain of seeking something she's either losing or has largely lost. I assume it's not easy to capture love and pain in the same painting, and one can see both here. Also, the outlining of her features is very sensitive—with bluish-gray lines—and I don't know that your background is a problem, because your surrounding lines—the lines you drew around her head—give her just the right amount of presence. After all, some portraits stand without a large background—it makes the face all the more important...This touches me in ways I can't describe, it's both true and beautiful. Really a precious find. I'm so glad I'm going back to your early work...

Superb portrait. I love the colors and your background treatment. The absence of the white spots in the eyes is perfect, Helle. It captures a look that I remember with my mom and many others with progressive AD. It is a far away look that pops up every so often, and also a look of being locked inside. You captured the look by leaving out the white light reflection. You make me want to embrace and comfort her. I think you really drew a marvelous portrait of a sweet mother.
