Description
This is the first attempt to create Dr. McCoy in 3D for a project currently in the theoretical stages, Star Trek Reanimated, which will hopefully recreate all the visuals of an episode of the original animated Star Trek, in 3D using Poser and other desktop apps. This is Michael 3, using only the standard morph packs, and stock DAZ hair (its most severe shortcoming, but the quest was to see how close I could get within Poser alone); the background is my own model of the turbolift from the original series, part of a complete Poser conversion of a TOS bridge I found online, originally modeled by SeanR.

I am a huge fan of the old star trek. I can't believe bones and scotty are dead... no one ever dies on star trek unless you're a security guard. I've seen a few attempts at recreating the facial images. I do think you have the best bones. I would try to get more detail in his hair - little darker not much... put some bags under his eyes. raise un eye brow ( I know spock was known for that, but McCoy seemed to always have one up.) Lower the black just a bit - it almost looks like a turtle neck. And, if you can put a couple stickes on his shirt around the neck, damn, then it's time to work on another character... I'll have to check out your site. I wouldn't mind doing a few project with star trek after I learn poser6.

Great likeness. I'm surprised and amazed that with only the standard morphs he can be made to look so close. Great work. ^_^

Congratulations on a very, very good face morph - this really looks like a young DeForest

Great job on McCoy. It actually does look like a younger version of Bones.

Ok, maybe he is not perfect, but within Poser limitations and using only standard morphs I believe it's a superb job. Immediately recognizable! Bravo!

Excellent work! Does need more bags under the eyes though.

Wow! I didn't expect this amount of response ;)! Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. I've been working on tweaking him, including increasing the amount of 'baggage'; I also found a bit better hair (actually, it's Kozaburo's mod of this same hair style, with transmapping and better textures; I just added the pointed sideburns ;)) - I'll post the new one tonight. Still, I'm pretty proud of this one, considering it's the first such morph I've done that actually looks like the person it's supposed to be; the fact that it can be done pretty much "out of the box" was an unexpected bonus - I may be offering this one up as a freebie.

Great work. Can nearly hear him saying "He's dead Jim". Like it very much :)

Your McCoy is nicer than mine! Please let me know if you decide to give this one away as a freebie. You can see mine at work in illustrations at this website: http://www.valjiir.us/ I've got a McCoy hair model that fits M3 that I'd be happy to share with you and a medical tunic texture for the DAZ M3 Tunic. Have you been to Tony Olivero's site? He has several ST:TOS models. http://xcalpro.com/tng/news.php I'm so happy to see someone else doing nice TOS work! Please feel free to contact me if you'd like to swap some ST props and heads.

Thanks, ktaylor! Some nice work you have over there! Are you the Mylochka with all the great female hair, like "Lovey?" Thanks for the offer on the hair and textures; I'm looking for resources for my project, Star Trek: Reanimated (http://64.225.237.28/Star_Trek_Reanimated); uniforms and the like for the Millennium adults. Anything like that would be greatly appreciated. Yep, I've been to Tony's website - in fact, it's been a good resource, as well, and I'm hoping to use many of his sets and props in the production - maybe even talk him into some custom pieces ;-) This was actually my first attempt at McCoy - my other gallery image, "McCoy - Refined," is much closer.
