I must have chosen Renaissance Man as a career option. I paint, draw, sculpt, write, and do photography.
Or put less charitably, "jack of all trades, master of none."

The joy of the creative life is there are no standards, no goals, no limits. Just do whatever you feel like doing to the fullest extent of your skills, facilities, faculties, and creativity.
Of course, it helps if everything is on hand, working, the Muse is making regular deliveries, and you're not tuckered or psyched out from your day job (or in my case, the overnight job).
I've been exhibiting at SF convention artshows since '76.
Starting in '86, I've been writing supplements for role playing games. You can find a list at http://www.pen-paper.net/rpgdb.php?op=showcreator&creatorid=2327
The best known is THE ULTIMATE POWERS BOOK, a treatise on comic book superpowers. You can find it on EBay or download it from the web.Â
As for photography, I'm using a 1976 Minolta SLR, a pair of 1.3 Mp Sanyo digital cameras, and an 8 Mp Canon S5. My computer is a HP Pavilion 4550Z, vintage 1999.
And I have webbed toes.
So does Dan Ackroyd, Madeline Stowe, and one of the Dixie Chicks. Ackroyd and I share the same attitude, "The toes prove I'm a mutant."

Dear David, This really looks cool so far!! The rosy pink over the blue really is neat!! And the gals expressions and poses are great, too. I know what you mean about working from photos - it's really hard if you are trying to match them. I've had better luck in using them as a guide or reference - and then just drawing what I think should be there. This also sets me to thinking about how things kind of go full circle. Poser was originally created as a posing tool for artists - sort of a digital version of the little model wooden mannequins. I read an article or interview by the creator. When I created Meredith I was working from a model, ME, and trying to capture the anatomy correctly. George, (Parthius) is doing a whole new mesh in Maya and working with richardson, a marble sculptor, to get the anatomy right, and of course that was originally from a model. And then, I was reading about folks doing paintings of Poser models. Eveything is sort of all tangeld together. I'm thinking about doing some bronzes, cast acrylics, and mabye even marble of Meredith!! We're working on the bronze first - trying to figure the best way to get from polygons to a wax model for the foundry. It's gonna be interesting. And it'll be interesting and very enjoyable to see how this finishes up!! Looks like you're pretty close!! Love you!!! Meredith
