Description

Unlike the other picture I just uploaded, this is what you can get when you expose for just the moon. It's a handheld shot with a little sharpening for details but otherwise straight from the camera, at 1/800 sec at f5.6. I was using my 300mm lens and even then I still had to crop a huge amount of the image out. Photographing the moon is pretty easy, the trick is to do it when it's directly overhead and on a cold clear night. That's when the air is clearest; shooting near the horizon almost always shows a blurry/fuzzy image. I also find it better to shoot when the moon isn't compltetly full, as the craters show up in relief.

Its 9am here where i live and the sky is completely blue and i can see the moon perfectly still. This would be the perfect time for me to shoot it. #:O) And darn it...i think i will, lol. Beautiful capture by the way. Impressive that its handheld and still that sharp. Well done indeed. #:o)
