Description

"Let us first say what photography is not. A photograph is not a painting, a poem, a symphony, a dance. It is not just a pretty picture, not an exercise in contortionist techniques and sheer print quality. It is or should be a significant document, a penetrating statement, which can be described in a very simple term - selectivity.-" ~ Berenice Abbott "Most people try to include too much in the picture. If you are photographing a child playing on the lawn, photograph the child, not the trees, the house, and everything else in sight. Photography is really a simple statement and the clearer it is the better." ~ Eliot Elisofon

The orchid has a little visitor. Have a great week everyone! ----- Thank you for your dual comments on my last upload, Orange Barred Sulphur & Chrysalis.

Awww...look at that little fella. He sure must be proud of himself for inhabiting such a big and beautiful place...doesnt have much else to be proud of....kinda like Britney spears i reckon. #:oP Awesome capture Kort. Love the simplicity of this shot, even though i hardly think there was anything simple about taking it. Very impressive. Have a wonderful Columbus/Erik-day! #:o)

Classic capture of the orchid contrasted against the black background. Beautiful light and shadow macro effect, which is always so powerful in a photo.

How do you get the black background when taking these? Almost like you did them in your private studio?? Beautiful.

Orchid.... one of my favourite flowers indeed! You've certainly brought a lot of attention to the beauty of it all! As other's have commented on the lighting, I must add that you did a superb job at this, not to mention the contrast. This image, for me contrasts the beauty of life with the voids life has to offer as well. Metaphorically, this image speaks a great deal!
