Description

It was about 2AM and I couldn't sleep, but saw a great opportunity. I took several handheld shots at 1600 ISO, as the clouds were moving in fast and a tripod + timed exposure would both take too long to do but ruin the effect. The artifact to the right of the moon--it's a lens flare. Yes, the moon was *that* bright.

The moon is up and there's magic afoot! This is the kind of night when faeries ride. Anyone got the right lens whatsis for that? Thanks for sharing. It's quite a striking shot even without the faeries, or maybe... what's a lens flare? BJ

Hello: it was a 12-24mm Tokina (ultra wide angle). A lens flare is the circular or spherical spots that follow a bright light source, usually caused by internal reflections inside the lens. Thanks for looking!
