Description

I know, I know..I know that this image sucks. Not very clear, taken from a great distance.... you are right.. this is not the best shot of an Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) ever. Why post it in the first place.. well..that is simple. The Osprey is not a common bird in Holland. In fact the Osprey is very, very, very rarely seen in our country.. but..one Osprey, and maybe two is or are for a short time living nearby the city of Breda, the city where I live. How special it was: a local broadcasting station was filming while we watched the bird. Anyway I took the opportunity to take some shots too...and they are special to me.

I think everyone has at least one photo they feel that way about. I know I have a few. How exciting to have this rare siting AND an opportunity to photograph it.

You are lucky to even see this Osprey. I try and try to find them with no success yet. There is a difference between smaller birds and these birds of prey. This one would fly away before you got too close. As far as the composition goes, it is decent. Keep looking and one will be closer for a clear shot.
