Her expression is perfect! This is a wonderful representation of the way the bad times seem to fade and the wonder and beauty can remain. Mother Natures way of protecting us, letting us grow up instead of bow down to a memory. Allowing us to get nourishment instead of being drained. The mists of time shroud the unpleasantness.
