Description

A study which comes across probably close to every single new user to 3dsMax.. Basically was a chamferbox with noise applied to it.. Thought i got a half way convincing "ice" texture.. Anyways, let me know what could be done to better the texture.. ( not the ice cubes ) Cubes werent a focus point on this one.. I know they look retarded :)

They look great but to be honest, they look like acrylic more than ice. Maybe if they were sitting in a pool of water it would help.

Acrylic eh? I thought that was a type of cloth? Heh well yea, putting them in a scene might bring out the realism in them.. But for a material experimentation .. it works ;)

Well how would I go about making the ice cubes have a "wet" look to them? Should I bump up the shinyness?

you don't call it textures.... they are called materials. "just being not happy this morning"

Upping the shinyness would help, and place the cubes in a small pool of water, this makes it look like they're melting (which ice tends to do). And maybe a specular map would look nice (not quite sure, just thought of it just now...)
