Anias!!! You are Drunk!!!: by Elgon Agis
Hearing the clamor outside of the Polis, I made my way to the front in time to see Anias picking himself up off the ground and staggering around and giggling as he tried to brush himself off.
The people around him watched.....some pointing at him and chuckling with amusement, and some shaking their heads in disdain and distaste.
Taking a deep breath, I sighed and walked over to the Scribe, steadying him by putting my arm around his shoulder. He looked up at me, his eyes squinting in a drunken stupor, grinned a silly grin and slurred. "Hiyyyyya Bossssshy. Don'tchu worry about anyssshing.......I got everyshhhhhing under control. Seeeee? slurred Anaia with a slow sweeping arm. Ebbbbbry one is safe cuzzzzz I solved the muder!
Anias's breath reeked of cheap wine as he spouted his words in my face.
"Well actually you didn't solve the murder Anias. But that is beside the point. You are drunk. You have had too much wine. And you cannot work here today! I am pulling you out of service for today.....without pay! You are a danger and menace, not only to yourself but to everyone around you here at the Polis. I am sending you home to sleep it off and sober up. If you return to the Polis today....you will find a cell waiting for YOU!"
I called a couple of guards over and instructed them to escort Anias, and make sure that he got home okay without causing any trouble along the way.
I turned to go back into the Polis, I paused at the approach of the High Priestess and Kyria Zoe.
I apologized to them as graciously as I could. "I am very sorry that you had to see that spectacle. It is really hard to get good help these days. I don't know what has gotten into that man as of late."
Since I did not get very many visits from the High Priestess or Kyria Zoe here at the Polis, I could only surmise that their visit to the Polis was not to see me, but Kyria Clio.
"Please come with me, I am sure that Kyria Clio will be happy to see you both." I smiled at them.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared in reverence at the High Priestess as we made our way through the Polis to the Holding Cells. I had the guard unlock Kyria Clio's cell door....and watched as they entered.
