Description

AloooooooooHa~ Hope everyone is coping with this week and enjoying life. I'm posting this one shot a couple of weeks ago on a shoot one rainy day with Sharky. I just liked the look of this shot, and after reading up on this power plant, I realized what a vital part this plant still plays in producing electric for this island, albeit not in the grand scale of our other power plants. But this one is still environmentally safe and requires no oil to produce electric. Thanks for your many inciteful comments on my past posts, you guys so Rock! If your interested here is some facts on this hydroelectric plant....Much Aloha to All~ In 1910, on the bank of the Wailuku River north of of Hilo, Hawaii Electric Light Company

Nice shot Dave. Hawaii has lots of history. Hard to find some of it. Glad you survived the earthquake and storm. Aloha

Dave, this photo is an eye grabber on it's own merits, but coupled with the history lesson makes this a much more fascinating shot. Especially in full view, the detail you've captured gives this a powerful feeling of history.

58 million....GALLONS even???? Yikes!!! Thats alot of water. And i thought wifey was wasting water on her long showers, lol. Ive seen this place before. Either it was you, or Errol, who uploaded a photo from there. I gotta say that this is such an amazing shot! The smaller waterfalls coming in from the side make it perfect. Very impressive exposure. Its not that hard to get a decent exposure on rushing water alone, but when you add other dead objects into the composition...like that building...then the exposure gets a bit trickier. But man oh man did you nail it or what!!!! Have a wonderful day buddy! ALOOOOHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! #:o)

I've been in the plant as a youth (school excursion) but never paid attention till now. Wish I had a camera in those days. This river never stops. Excellent job and beautiful shot. Aloha
