Picture taken last year. Bad weather. There was a terrible battle in Verdun in 1916-1917, during World War I. Nord-east of France.
About 800 000 deads, French, German, American men... Here, 15 000 crosses.
Lesson has been forgotten.

I have visited Verdun and your photo captures the tragedy of war. I am pleased to see flowers placed by the crosses by those who remember.
