Description
Happy Halloween! This image is an experiment in two ways:
1) It's an attempt to use digital art to convert a cartoon character into more realistic form. I paid special attention to capturing the essence of the cartoon face in the more true-to-life face of this rendition. I did this by giving him soft, round features and a shy smile.
2) In Western culture, there are two basic perceptions of a ghost. One is a semi-transparent but fully anthropomorphic figure. The other is a floating bluish-white blob that kids imitate when they throw bedsheets opver their heads. Casper has always been mostly of the latter variety (he has arms and a head, but otherwise he's basically a blob of ethereal fluff), but with this image I ask "What if Casper was a truly anthropomorphic ghost?"
