Daydreams, truth and reality
----------------------------
What right do I have to sit and dream
and waste my time away,
To write a poem of love and joy
and making pots of clay?
To look inside the mirror
With worry and a frown,
At wrinkles appearing on my face
and greying at the crown.
To shout out loud and scream with glee
with kids out in the park,
With stomachs full and content
Telling terror tales in the dark.
To swim out in the ocean
and paddle in the waves,
Catching crabs upon the sands
Exploring sea formed hollow caves.
To feast upon a cheesy pizza
Watching movies or DVD

A veritable tour-de-force indeed - so carefully composed and constructed. Certainly this piece hits out at our modern complacency and self-satisfaction - you are of course absolutely right - we should expand our dreams and ambitions to include all those less fortunate than ourseleves: An old north-west UK prayer For us as 'as it, we're glad For those as 'asn't, were sad We should, as you have so graphically displayed, perhaps be sadder longer.
