Description

This picture was taken by my son. He got a chance to go through the old movie theater in town that has been shut down for about 25 years. They are redoing it and going to make it into a show place for shows, movies, etc. Like it used to be back in the 30's and 40's when my great uncle was an actor there. I spent many a day in that theater when I was young and I was really happy that he got a chance to go through it. Its still in need of a lot of work but it will eventually be the showplace it once was. The theater is the Colony and is located in Marietta Ohio. This is the old movie projector that still sits in the projection room.. a real ghost of the past. Enjoy...

Fantastic pho and your son was very smart to capture this as those kind of projectors are already extremely rare but in theatre projection, earlier in my lifetime at least, was how it was commonly done in cinema. Those machines were real workhorses back in the day!
